VERY FEW DO IT LIKE WE DO.

A true cleaned crawfish is one that has been washed with fresh super oxygenated water. This process was developed originally as a way to hold inventory. However, it was soon discovered that the crawfish purge themselves within 24 to 36 hours regardless of the time in water or out.

Our crawfish comes rinsed and we recommend not purging our crawfish.

NO SALT.

The old wives’ tale of rinsing crawfish in salt water is a waste of your time and salt. A short rinse is great for cleaning existing waste, but the salt will not cause them to purge themselves. Rinse your crawfish well, but save your salt.

HOW TO DEVEIN A COOKED CRAWFISH.

Note: Crawfish do have a dark vein that you can remove before eating. *It will not hurt you to eat it*. In young crawfish, that vein will turn semi clear once the crawfish is purged. But as they get older, the vein stays a dark color, so it makes it look like it is dirty, which usually is not the case. This is why it’s just easier to remove it. If you push in the tail when you are twisting, the vein will separate from the meat.
